Since becoming a cello teacher I have encouraged children and adults of all ages to play the cello. I found learning the cello a very rewarding experience and I am keen to do the same for my pupils. As well as having private students, ranging from young children to adults, I also teach in a number of Primary and Grammar Schools as well as the Ulster College of Music in Belfast. I am on the teaching staff of Oxford Cello School and am the cello tutor for the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra.
As well as teaching privately since 2004, I have previously taught for Junior RNCM, the RNCM Junior Strings Project, Musicianship and Cello for Yorkshire Young Musicians and been a cello teacher for Trafford Music Service and Cheshire-based music hub “Music for Life”.
I regularly enter my pupils in for ABRSM music exams, with many achieving merits and distinctions at all levels. If you aren’t interested in being entered for exams, I am happy to explore a variety of interesting repertoire with you.
